The ability to quickly and efficiently service incoming locomotive power was critical for BNSF to provide uninterrupted service to its customers in the San Francisco Bay area. While the yard had adequate diesel fuel storage capacity, the pumping distribution system and fueling platform were aging and undersized, and required upgrades. Several phases of improvements spanning several years were initiated with the creation of a study of the existing fueling systems, which was submitted as a Fueling Facility Master Plan.
Argus staff made upgrades to the storage tank containment, diesel fuel dispensing pumping system and pipeline, truck load station, and fueling platform dispensing equipment. Successful design, permitting, construction management, and startup services accomplished the goal of increasing the speed at which locomotives could be fueled and put back in service.
