Argus Consulting was hired by Westway Terminals to investigate, study, analyze and prepare a written engineering report recommending various improvements to the existing Asphalt Terminal in Baltimore. A team of Argus engineers visited the facility, reviewed the As-Built Documents, recorded equipment nameplate data and generated a field observation log. With this information, the engineers and designers developed a facility and system matrix that identified facility capacities, operational requirements, equipment capabilities, system conditions and facility compliance. One specific component of the project was to perform a piping stress analysis. This analysis considered both static and dynamic behavioral reaction of system tankage, pumps and piping systems. The final report addressed various facility and system improvements that could be implemented.
