Argus conducted an investigation of two cargo areas being addressed under the State of Texas’ Voluntary Cleanup Program (VCP). The VCP utilized the State’s risk-based corrective action program known as the Texas Risk Reduction Program (TRRP).
The larger of the two sites included a 385-acre cargo area in the northwest portion of the airport. Maintenance activities were conducted throughout this facility resulting in the presence of numerous petroleum and chlorinated solvent plumes in excess of 28 acres. Argus installed more than 200 monitoring wells and 500 geoprobes to identify and delineate these plumes as well as rigorously study the complicated geology. The complicated geology greatly affected migration of contaminants at the site, resulting in a complex conceptual site model.
The response actions being developed by Argus for these plumes include a combination of plume management zones, institutional controls, physical controls, and active remediation to address the multiple chlorinated solvent and petroleum soil and groundwater plumes. As part of the site remedial design, Argus is evaluating the effectiveness of monitored natural attenuation, enhanced bioremediation and in-situ chemical oxidation.
