J.F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
Planning, Design and Management
Major Expansion
American
Airlines is implementing a major expansion and redevelopment program
for Passenger Terminals 8 and 9 at J.F. Kennedy International
Airport. This complex project requires construction of new buildings
and infrastructure systems with the limited space of the
existing 42-acre Passenger Terminal Complex, resulting in a totally
different terminal and concourse configuration.
Direct Fueling for 57 Gate
Positions
Argus designed a new aircraft hydrant
fueling system providing direct fueling of 57 gate positions for
American Airlines at JFK. The hydrant systems include: transfer
piping, control valve vaults, isolation valve pits, hydrant pits,
low point drain pits, high point vent pits, cathodic protection
systems, leak detection systems and emergency fuel shut-off systems.
The gate positions and aircraft parking positions are designed for a
specific mix and type of aircraft ranging from Regional Jets to
B-777s.
Minimum Gate Closure
Required
The new system requires a phased construction
program to match building and apron construction projects while
keeping the existing hydrant system operational to serve ongoing
passenger/aircraft operations.
