Memphis Shelby County International Airport (MEM)
Design and Construction Follow On
Argus was contracted by Aircraft Services International to
complete a concept necessary to renovate three existing fueling
facilities now operating independently of one another on the
commercial side of the airfield. The facilities continued operation
throughout the renovation process, and shared a new storm water
collection and treatment system. A new fuel recovery system for
all the Jet-A storage tanks and canopies was provided to minimize
storm water in containment areas.
Concept, Design and
Follow-On
The existing farms support DOT tanker
deliveries, pipeline deliveries, three refueler loading positions,
two hydrant distribution systems and associated systems. Argus
developed the concept implemented by the design and construction is
now underway.
Fueling Systems
In addition to
the five tank Jet-A system serving the Jet-A systems identified
above, a Mogas system to serve Ground Service Equipment was designed
to utilize the same contained area as one of the refueler
loading areas and it is also currently under construction on the
same site.
Argus' Responsibilities
Argus
Consulting was the prime consultant, performed value-engineering,
negotiated with the local contractor experienced with fueling and
achieved the project under budget. Additional integration of the
facility and the addition of a number of other improvements to the
existing facility were made to address environmental and operational
issues.
