Air National Guard - Rosecrans Field, St. Joseph, Missouri
Design and Construction Follow-on
Argus Consulting provided engineering planning and design
services for a new JP-8 aircraft fuel receiving, storage
distribution facility to serve C-17s at Missouri Air National Guard
operations at Rosecrans Memorial Airport.
The Preparation
The project
site required extensive preparation (imported fill material) to
establish the elevation of the new facility above the flood
plain. The site development included infrastructure and utility
systems, vehicular pavements and area surfacing.
Aircraft Fuel System
The
aircraft fuel system concept was based upon unloading fuel from
over-the-road transport trucks and loading aircraft refueler
vehicles. The fuel facility included multiple fuel unloading and
loading islands, two-2,500 BBL above ground fuel storage tanks,
concrete retention dikes and equipment to meter, filter, pump,
monitor and control fuel flow. Consistent with Military
Specifications, piping, pumps, filters and specialty components were
of stainless steel construction.
Auto Gasoline System
Also
associated with this project was an extensive auto gasoline system
comprised of tanks, pumps, meters, and inventory controls. This
system is the vehicular fuel system for the entire base.
