Study, Design and Construction Follow-On
Argus Consulting provided planning and engineering design and
construction follow-on services for the Georgia Air National Guard
B1-B Bed Down project at Robins AFB Georgia.
Fuel Storage Facility
The
overall program called for a new JP-8 fuel storage facility,
aircraft fuel distribution system and a Type III aircraft hydrant
fueling system. The fuel storage facility included: fuel
receiving equipment, two 7,500 BBL above ground fuel storage tanks
with fire protection and level monitoring systems, and a dispensing
system with pumps, filtration and controls.
Fuel Distribution System
The
fuel distribution system included the capability and facilities to
load multiple refueler vehicles simultaneously. The Type III
aircraft hydrant fueling system was comprised of an apron piping
network complete with cathodic protection, leak detection and
hydrant pit assemblies. The Central Aircraft Support Systems (CASS)
for this B1-B facility provided 400 hertz electrical power,
compressed air, pre-conditioned air and a glycol media cooling
system for avionics to support the aircraft when parked on the
apron.
