J.F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
Planning, Design and Construction Follow-On
Argus has provided multiple hydrant system design projects at JFK
through the years. In all cases, additions to the existing hydrant
systems were made to provide additional gates and reconfigure
existing aircraft parking positions.
Working Together
Working with
the NYNJPA and the Airlines, the aircraft parking positions were
established based upon the mix of aircraft anticipated. Design
and Construction Documents were produced integrating pre-purchased
equipment to expedite construction and minimize gate closure
time.
Managing Time Issues
To
minimize gate closure times, Argus developed a design that would
reduce the amount of aircraft apron to be removed as well as the
hydrant system piping to minimize the length between the main
fuel header and the new hydrant pit location.
