Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW)
Planning, Design and Construction Follow-On
Argus Consulting was hired by Northwest Airlines to provide a
full range of specialized professional engineering services for the
new 74-90 Gate Mid- Field Passenger Terminal Complex at Detroit
Metropolitan International Airport.
Looking to the Future
The
aircraft hydrant fueling system at this new facility must not only
be capable of serving a large hub scenario in the year 2005 with 74
gates, but shall also be easily expandable to 90 gates to
satisfy operational demands in the year 2020. To establish
proper system characteristics a computer generated sizing model was
created utilizing anticipated gate activity charts.
Latest Technology
When
completed, this hydrant system will have the capacity to completely
satisfy the peak simultaneous demand period during the busiest
period of the planned ten operational banks per day. Additionally,
the hydrant system will have the latest technology with respect to
flow and pressure control, leak detection and corrosion
protection.
